Dive Silfra, based in Reykjavik Iceland, is looking for dive Instructor either singles or couples to join our team for the summer season, working from 25th May until 1st October 2019 with the chance of extending for the right people.
The role involves running snorkelling and diving tours at Silfra, a freshwater fissure located within Thingvellir national park. Silfra is a 45 minute drive outside of the capital Reykjavik, and is famous for having excellent visibility due to the glacial water supplying it. All diving and snorkelling is done in dry suits as the water is 2-4 degrees C all year round.
This job is specifically a guiding role, but there is limited potential to teach dry suit courses in the summer months. To be competent as a guide you need to be comfortable with dry suit diving in 2 degree water is not to be taken lightly, and we need you to know what to expect before arriving.
We are looking for candidates with good communication skills and the ability to work both on your own and as part of a team. This is a customer service role so a good, patient manner is essential.
We offer a competitive, non-commission based, monthly paid salary. We also provide value accommodation in Reykjavik (15 min cycle to the town centre). You will work around 40 hours per week, but we do require some flexibility when busy. Also, Dive Silfra is owned by parent company Arctic Adventures, which is one of the largest tourist operators in Iceland. On days off, employees are able to undertake most of the tours operated by the company free of charge: https://www.adventures.is
We can only consider candidates with a valid working visa for Europe/Iceland. We are not able to provide you with a visa.
